Why most manufacturing companies struggle on Instagram
Manufacturing gets written off as unphotogenic by people who have never stood next to a five-axis mill. A solid block becoming a finished part, a fixture holding six components at once, a CMM probe touching down forty times inside one bore: this is the most watchable raw material any business type has. The tolerances are what turn it from a satisfying video into an argument for hiring you.
The second problem an account solves is recruitment. Setters, welders and toolmakers are the constraint on almost every factory floor, and high school graduates still picture a dark oily shed from 1978. Photographs correct that faster than an open house ever will, and so does simply stating the shift patterns, the length of the apprenticeship and who pays the college tuition, because almost nobody in the trade does.
The ideas below are split between the buyer and the applicant. Explainers for the engineer or procurement manager holding a drawing, covering tolerances, lead time, surface finish and the arithmetic of setup cost, and posts that make a good machinist wonder what your factory looks like inside.
What actually performs for manufacturing companies
Put the number in slide one. Three ten-thousandths, fourteen hours, four hundred parts overnight — the figure is what turns process footage into an argument rather than a nice video.
Explain a price instead of defending it. The setup-versus-unit arithmetic converts more buyers than any capability list, because it teaches them to order in a way that suits your machines.
Design-for-manufacture advice given away free at drawing stage is the closest thing this trade has to a funnel. Mark up a model in public and the inquiries arrive already qualified.
Recruitment posts need the same specificity as the technical ones: name the shift pattern, the length of the apprenticeship, the class schedule and who pays the tuition.
Quality vocabulary works as a filter. First article inspection, PPM, material certification, weld procedure, certificate scope: those words hold the attention of the people who place orders and lose everyone else.
